When I was in Iceland a few months ago, shivering in the cold and imbibing the local Brennivin to warm my trembling toes, I was stopped in my tracks (and sips) by the glowy complexion of my new friend, Ashley. “How does your skin look that gorgeous?” I asked, liquid courage propelling my forward inquiry. “Beauty Dust from Moon Juice,” she said, a simple spoonful of which she added to her daily tea or juice. So began my sleuthing work to get to the bottom of said “moon juice” and subsequent glowy skin. I was the Icelandic Harriet the Spy: on the case, looking for answers.
Turns out this powdered miracle elixir was created by Amanda Chantal Bacon, founder of Moon Juice, which opened its first brick and mortar in Venice, California just a few years ago. We all know I love female entrepreneurs and even more so when coupled with my hippie-dippie-California-girl sensibility of all things clean and green, so Ms. Amanda (and her new age goodies) were right up my alley. Per their company ethos:
Moon Juice represents a holistic lifestyle that goes far beyond juices, milks, and snacks. It’s a healing force, an etheric potion, a cosmic beacon for those seeking out beauty, wellness and longevity. Amanda created Moon Juice for people interested in a new way of living. Not a way where you have to erase your past, but a way fueled by excitement to help yourself live better, here and now.
To find out the things that make this earth mama tick, we sat down for a Tig Talk with the lovely Ms. Bacon. Thanks, Amanda!
My nickname is: WHA WHA.
The first thing I do when I wake up is: Listen for the bird chirps.
I can't live without: Ashwagandha. It's an potent root produced by Moon Juice that aids the thyroid, soothes anxiety, and improves sleep.
If I had one week to escape: I’d turn my phone off, hide my keys, and enjoy the exotic pleasures of home.
If I only had $10 in my pocket: I’d open a little juice shop on a line of credit!
Everything tastes better with a little: Pink salt.
